Hungary will launch a massive program of highway construction based on European funds

Hungary intends to increase to 60% the amount of EU funds that will allocate economic development funds programming period 2014-2020 cohesion from 16% in 2007-2013, says Portfolio.hu. The remaining 40% of funds will be used for human resources and infrastructure, said Janos Lazar, head of the cabinet of Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

Lazar also announced a major program of highway construction, saying that every highway in the country should reach the border until 2018 he drew attention to the "answer" given by the European Commission political forces calling for the EU to sanction Hungary providing funding of 34.5 billion through a partnership agreement.

According to Lazar, European funds and inputs required from Hungary will mean development projects 12,000 billion forints by Hungary until 2020 the Partnership approved last week will be signed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on 11 September.
